West Bay Sea Wall Repairs

 Suttle Piling were instructed to install 50m of sheet piling to stabilise the harbour wall at West Bay.

We used our Volvo EC220 excavator with Movax attachment to drive the 84nr sheet piles. Due to the positioning of the piles, they had to be installed from the sea. For this we used a JML60 Deck Cargo Barge; a multi-purpose, shallow draft, flat-bottomed barge. It has two 12m self-elevating spud legs for precise position holding. The Volvo EC140 was loaded onto the cargo barge at the east Pier before moving through the harbour to the works location. We also utilised 16nr pontoons, a safety boat and 2nr material transporting pontoons. To protect the ecology in the harbour we used a bubble curtain to contain the silt disturbed during the piling works.
